Earlier this year we were approached to redesign the website for Big Light Productions with one unique thing in mind: prominently feature the content from the company's social network. From the initial conversations with company owner Frank Spotnitz, it was decided that the entire site would be driven by content from fans, centered on the social network and also including a wiki for all of the shows and films the production company had worked on that the fans themselves would populate. Frank frequently answers fan mail, and the company also requested the ability to easily maintain the news portion of the site, so we built out those two portions of the site on the popular content management system Wordpress to give the company the easiest of access to blogs and news updates.

From there, original sections were built out to highlight each project the company has worked on, as well as upcoming projects, but using existing technology to pull in aspects of the social network even to the project pages in the form of photo slideshows. The site also serves as a repository for Frank's past journalism work in easy to navigate sections. We also heavily focused on search engine optimization best practices, as well as laid out a social media plan for the company.

As huge fans of The X-Files ourselves, it was quite a pleasure to work on such a fun project, especially with a client who was (and still is!) willing to take chances and really understands the power of fans and exclusive content.
